The Athanor Pty Ltd was founded in 1988 by Anamaria Beligan and Valeriu Campan who are both graduates of the I.A.T.C. “I.L. Caragiale” Film and Television School in Bucharest.

After her arrival in Australia, in 1983, Anamaria worked as film writer / producer / director for a variety of Melbourne based companies specialising in television commercials, music clips and corporate communications. She also taught at the Australia Radio, Film and Television School in Sydney.

In 1994, she obtained a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics at Monash University. Anamaria is also a writer of fiction and has published several novels and short story collections, both in Australia and Romania. Within the Athanor, Anamaria and Valeriu have produced documentaries and educational videos, including a number of programs on language related issues. At present, Anamaria and Valeriu are developing an independent feature project.
